And so it ends...
It looks like the Dorner drama is over.
I watched it live on local news instead of national. Local was better.
Of course live meant things like the local reporter being at the cabin as the shootout occurred, his cell phone on, cops telling him to get to the fuck out of there -- live on air. A few minutes later the in studio folk talk over it to say we may hear expletives, heh.

Eventually the facts started to come out and as they did the cabin went up in flames -- shortly after tear gas had been fired in. Then Waco started trending on Twitter (and being mentioned all over the internets)...

Let's just recap -
Dorner shoots and kills a couple who had nothing to do with him... nothing. Probably never met him. Why? He didn't like the girls daddy, who had represented him in a PD case. Um, you cannot go around killing people who are related to people that you don't like. Still, he left a letter, manifesto, whatever you call saying the PD is bad so a bunch of people decide he's a hero... UM... WTF? You realize he just KILLED people that didn't know him, right? You're not morons, right? You know there are good and bad people in all walks of life, right? A guy didn't need to go on a rampage and leave you a letter to tell you this, did he?

Then he shoots two PD, well I guess he's finally going after the people he says he's mad at... Not LAPD, not even in LA County... but it is the PD now. Now he's fighting corruption and lying with murders, eye for a whole body or three or something. Anything to clear his name, I guess.

But hey he's also been found in a cabin by some women who were sent to clean it, so he tied them up and took their car. What a hero. After crashing their car, he carjacked at gunpoint, a guy and his dog, leaving them out on the road in the middle of nowhere. Fish and game get shot at and shoot at him. Somehow from that cops end up trapping him in yet another house that isn't his to enter. Another shootout. Right back where this post starts out - tear gas finally shot in, after several hours of silence. Fire starts. A single shot inside. Cabin burns. Ammunition inside starts exploding in the fire. Cops won't let FD in because they think it's too dangerous. They let some poor people's house burn, presumably with Dorner trapped or dead inside. Initially a story spread that a body was found inside, then that it was his body. The last press conferences of the night said no, the house was still too hot and unsafe and they expect no more news tonight.

Sorry, this isn't like Waco -- this isn't some person on his own property with a bunch of kids inside minding his own, albiet crazy, business. This person already killed innocent people, committed other crimes against other innocents, publicly threatened innocent family members of his enemies to the point he was saying he knew where their kids went to school and was now shooting at them. Sure, it would have been nice to capture him alive but he made it clear that would NOT happen. He was a danger to people who never did a thing to him. He was no hero.

By all means investigate every claim of misconduct, corruption, etc. I'm not stupid, I know there are good cops and bad. But seriously making a hero out of a murderer who ties up innocent women?

Also, people saying the LAPD killed him in a fire -- um LAPD wasn't the department up on the mountain. The fact that everything came out of the San Bernardino County Sheriff's office should have tipped people off, even if they don't live here - it's not LAPD, it's not even the same COUNTY. Though LAPD did have officers up there for communication and offered support if they needed it. As I said, by all means debate and investigate corruption issues, but be honest about what you're talking about.

Yeah, Waco and this are two totally different situations that aren't properly comparable.

You realize that, but you're sane ;)

But you are asking conspiracy theorists to be rational. Come on now... these are the same people that believe that we never landed on the moon and that our own country caused the twin towers to fall. You really think they are going to be rational? Or to get their facts straight?

Well this is true, but this story seems to have brought out more than the usual conspiracy nuts. And while I am all for investigating bad cops, rooting for a murderer doesn't seem to be the way to make any point.
