So for those living in a cave, my city is on high alert.
A former police officer has declared war on the current department (he has a list of high value targets he has grudges against, it seems -- but everyone seems to be fair game, his first kills being not even officers but their family members).
Surely those of you not living in a cave, have already read his "manifesto" or heard of it.
This has led to disasters like oh, innocent newspaper delivery ladies getting shot up in a hail of bullets because their truck looked like his and they were too close to a house being guarded, being one of the ones threatened by him. I mean, I guess truck owners of Southern California can now rejoice -- his truck was found in flames up in Big Bear yesterday. He is still missing. In Big Bear? Was that a diversion? Who knows. He's well trained by the military and LAPD both.
What worries me most about all of this though is the reaction online. At first I thought trolls. But now it's so overwhelming it must be what some people really think. Support for him. Now I agree - by all means, investigate his claims that the PD is corrupt. Fine. But saying you SUPPORT him? Actually support him? Um... WTF? Or that the people deserved it because they pushed him into it? He's bragging about well trained he is, as are the PD. The young lady he killed was a sports coach. A relative of a former cop or lawyer or something, I dunno. She probably never even MET HIM. How did she push him into anything? He mentions knowing these people's family members work places, their children's schools... Really, what did their children do to him? Even if you believe everything he says in his manifesto and think people "pushed him into this" um, hello, he's clearly a danger to the whole community once he goes there. What if he does target their kids at school, what if their kids go to school with your kids. Seriously, the fact that he snaps like this just because someone pushed him into it means he never should have been a cop, what if a suspect had pushed him.
Likewise, hello LAPD, I know it's crazy dangerous out there but please stop shooting innocent citizens. Last night someone in Venice shot at cops. Um. Honestly, if I were them I would have just shot and killed that one. Don't shoot at cops, especially not in L.A. right now. But dude, be nice to us when we're not messing with you and just doing things like delivering papers. Clearly an old white lady delivering newspapers looks nothing like a huge black guy. So crazy here now. Crazy. Scary.
This is why I don't get why people want cops or former standing at schools with guns. Sure plenty of them are good people. Some of them are nuts.
I just hope that this ends soon, with no more deaths.
