RIP Jadin Bell
Sunday Jadin Bell died. I'd not heard of this boy until today when a graphic with his name and face ended up on my "Family" facebook feed. My sister had posted it with a message saying she was very upset and couldn't wait to get her degree so she could help boys like him. I ran off to look up his story. He died up there in Oregon after hanging himself in a schoolyard park. An openly gay teen he'd been bullied. Yes, he had asked for help. The school is apparently investigating. How nice of them. He's now dead. He did the right things. He asked for help. He considered homeschool apparently but decided um, no, I should be allowed to go to school with my friends. Eventually it was too much. RIP Jadin. What a senseless loss.

In other news - Rick Santorum has been nice enough to tell us that the Boy Scouts might not survive if they let the evil gays become scouts. "Scouting may not survive this transformation of American society, but for the sake of the average boy in America, I hope the board of the Scouts doesn't have its fingerprints on the murder weapon..." I wonder why kids think it's okay to bully someone like Jadin when people like Santorum, who wanted to be president, are out there wasting their very public forum whining about how gays are such a serious issue in our world. I don't see them complaining about rapists - hell half the time they seem to fight for their rights, telling women how we should keep their babies if they are nice enough to give us one, even give them visitation rights in many states as you know - babies need a daddy. But gays are an issue. And the unwanted babies that are out there? Never hear them make that a major issue. Not when we have the gays ruining everything. The violence against kids and women especially? Not using their very public soap boxes to say something about that. Yeah I have no clue why the kids of this world see no problem with verbally or even physically assaulting gays since you know, they're the biggest problem we seem to have.

But then if someone who has no problem with gays says look, they should be allowed to be openly gay and not be abused. They should have the same rights to marriage or insurance or whatever then it becomes: SEE! SEE! They want special treatment! No they just want you to shut up about how evil they are, even if you can't find it in your cold cold hearts to to be nice or to at least ignore them -- or at least tell kids that so they can survive the already cruel enough world that is school without the added issues of being violently tortured for being gay on top of for being too tall or too short or too fat or too skinny or too whatever.

Yep; kids don't seem to be getting a great example from politicians... Maybe those at the top should start looking on their own doorstep - but that would take conscience and self-awareness, which they don't seem to have been blessed with a huge supply of!
